After our arrival, we leave the airport and begin our city tour of Madrid. We start at Plaza Mayor, a large square that features 136 buildings and 437 balconies opening to courtyards. In the past, bullfights and public executions by the Inquisition were watched from these balconies. The heart of the city, Puerta Del Sol, the Royal Palace's public speaking area Plaza De Orient, Alcala Gate built to showcase the city’s wealth, the eye-catching Gran Via with its colonnaded roofs, Plaza Colon, Cibeles Square and Fountain, and the Cervantes Monument are among the places to be seen. After the tour, transfer to our hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 2: MADRID – TOLEDO – MADRID
After breakfast at the hotel, we have free time. Guests who wish can participate in the optional
Toledo Tour (65 Euro) organized by our guide. Toledo is a true open-air museum and the former capital of Spain, one of the most important cities on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Its magnificent cathedral, hosting works by world-renowned painters, competes with some of the world's top museums. Known as the city of El Greco, Toledo has managed to remain unchanged since the 16th century. With its architecture showing traces of Roman, Visigoth, Arab, Gothic, and Renaissance styles, narrow streets, El Greco's paintings, typical pastry shops, Damascino stores, and of course its famous cathedral, Toledo is a tourist pilgrimage site. Another tradition in Toledo is the production of marzipan dating back to the time when Arabs conquered the city. A visit to Toledo would not be complete without tasting this mouthwatering confection. After a walk in the Jewish Quarter, we head back to our hotel in Madrid. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 3: MADRID – ZARAGOZA – BARCELONA
After breakfast, we will head towards Barcelona. Guests who wish can participate in the optional Zaragoza Tour (30 Euro) organized by our guide. During our tour, we will see the Ebro River, the city’s central cathedral Pilar Cathedral, La Seo Cathedral, San Pablo Church, Plaza Espana, and Pilar Bridge. The capital of the Catalonia Autonomous Community, Barcelona is Spain's second-largest city, attracting tourists four times its population due to its remarkable architecture by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi. After the tour, transfer to our hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 4: BARCELONA
After breakfast at the hotel, guests who wish can participate in the optional Girona & Figueras Tour (70 Euro) organized by our guide. We start our tour in Girona, the richest city in the region, located by the Onyar River and reminiscent of Florence at first sight. Girona is a delightful medieval city with its narrow streets and cathedral, and it is also the filming location for the perfume film. During our panoramic tour, we will see the Lion Statue, Cathedral Square, Mezuzah houses, the Jewish Quarter, Rambla, and famous shops. After free time, we will head towards Figueras with a view of the Pyrenees mountains. The town's captivating atmosphere has inspired the world-renowned surrealist painter Salvador Dali throughout his life.
