DAY 1: ISTANBUL – BELGRADE
Meeting in front of Turkish Airlines counter at the International Departure terminal of Istanbul Airport 3 hours before the flight. After handling baggage, ticket, and passport procedures, we will depart for Belgrade at 14:10 on Turkish Airlines flight TK 1079. Arrival at 15:00 local time, and our city tour of Belgrade begins with our vehicle waiting at the airport. During our city tour, we will see the daily life of the city, important buildings, and the consciously left building of the interior ministry bombed by NATO in the center of the city. As we continue our tour, we will get off our bus for a walking tour where we will see Bayraklı Mosque, Belgrade Fortress, Damat Ali Pasha Tomb, Clock Tower, Sokollu Mehmed Pasha Fountain, Military Museum, Istanbul Gate, Dungeon Gate, Leopoldov Gate, Stefan Lazarevic Monument, Nebojsa Tower, Kale Square, Saborna Cathedral, Republic Square, Terazi Square, and Stone Square. We will complete our city tour with a walk on Knez Mihajlova Street, considered the heart of the city. In the free time until the meeting time announced by our guide, you can do some shopping or enjoy the cafes on the street. Transfer to our hotel at the time determined by the guide. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 2: BELGRADE – SREBRENICA – SARAJEVO
After breakfast at our hotel and checking out of the rooms, we head towards Srebrenica. Srebrenica, where more than 8000 Bosnian citizens were massacred and buried in mass graves during the Bosnian War in 1995 despite its status under UN protection, continues to be an open wound for the Bosnian people. After visiting the prisoner camps and the martyrdom site, we depart from Srebrenica. Our next stop will be Sarajevo.
Sarajevo, the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is also a significant center in the Balkans. The city is the meeting point of Roman Catholics in the west, Eastern Orthodox in the east, and Ottoman peoples in the south. While it has been an example of civilization clashes throughout history, it is also a beacon of hope for peace with its multiculturalism and tolerance. The city is known for its religious diversity, where Muslims, Christians of different denominations, and Jews have coexisted for centuries. The city reflects its rich historical diversity in its architecture, with some spots resembling a Central European city, while just a few streets away you can find signs of Ottoman or Soviet-like socialist modernism. Upon arrival at the center, we will embark on a walking tour of the city, and see Vijecnica (City Hall), built during the Austro-Hungarian Empire but currently serving as the national library, the surprising Inat Kuca, the Miljacka River, the Latin Bridge that has survived from the Ottoman Period, and the spot where the spark of World War I was ignited, where an Austro-Hungarian archduke was shot. We will then proceed to Bascarsija, the historic center of Sarajevo, famous for its cobblestone streets, traditional bazaar, and historic mosques. As you pass by a church or a synagogue, it is possible to hear the call to prayer at the same time. Places we will see in this area include the Sebilj Fountain and Pigeon Square, the historic clock tower, the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the only Ottoman caravanserai that has survived from the Ottoman period, Morica Han. We will conclude our tour by visiting the Eternal Flame (Vjecna Vatra) dedicated to the military and civilian casualties that liberated Sarajevo during World War II. The monument is made of tiles in the colors of the former Yugoslav flag (blue, white, and red) with inscriptions, and it has an open flame contained in a copper vessel shaped like a laurel wreath. After our tour, we will have free time. Transfer to our hotel at the time indicated by our guide. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 3: SARAJEVO – MOSTAR – BLAGAJ – POČITELJ – TREBINJE
After breakfast at the hotel and checking out of the rooms, we will head towards Mostar. In the city established around the Neretva River, we will first see the Mostar Bridge during a walking tour. The bridge is a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture and is the symbol of the city. Although it was destroyed during the conflicts at the end of 1992, it was rebuilt in 2004 with significant contributions from the Republic of Turkey. The Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque will also be among the places we will visit during our tour. Our next destination will be Blagaj. In this historic town, we will see the Blagaj Tekke, built as a dervish lodge during the Ottoman period, located by the Buna River and surrounded by high cliffs. You can have your lunch during the free time by the Buna River. Following that, we will visit Počitelj, known as the Turkish Village, where we will see buildings from the Ottoman period built in the 16th century and the Počitelj Fortress. After the tour, we will transfer to our hotel in Trebinje or the surrounding area. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 4: TREBINJE – KOTOR – BUDVA – ST. STEFAN – SHKODRA
After breakfast at the hotel and checking out of the rooms, we depart for Montenegro. Upon arrival at the border, after customs and passport procedures, our first stop will be Kotor. The city, located in the deepest part of Kotor Bay, is known for its beautiful architecture and natural setting. Here, we will carry out a walking tour in the Old Town (Stari Grad) of Kotor. After our tour of Kotor, we will arrive in Budva, known for its beach area, well-preserved medieval walls, sandy beaches, and vibrant nightlife along the Adriatic Sea. During our walking city tour, we will see the Old Town (Stari Grad) and Budva Fortress. After a break for lunch, we will have a panoramic view of St. Stefan, which was once a fishing village and has transformed into a city that defies the years, along with its turquoise beaches. After our tour, we will move on to Albania. Upon arrival at the border with customs and passport procedures, our first stop will be Shkodra. During our city tour, we will see Ebu Bekir Mosque, Rozafa Castle, Tito Square, and the Monument of Five Heroes. Following that, transfer to our hotel and free time. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 5: SHKODRA – TIRANA – OHRID
After breakfast at the hotel and checking out of the rooms, we head to Tirana, the capital of Albania. During our panoramic city tour of Tirana, we will see Ethem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, and the Skanderbeg Monument and Square. Following our tour, we move towards Ohrid. Upon arrival at the border, after customs and passport procedures, the city tour of Ohrid begins. Situated between high mountains and Lake Ohrid, this city continues to impress its visitors with its history and nature. During our walking panoramic city tour in Ohrid, we will see the Samuel Fortress, which proudly overlooks the old town, the Church of Saint Sofia, the only Hellenistic theater that has survived in North Macedonia, the Ancient Theater, and many churches and monasteries from the Byzantine period. After our tour, we will transfer to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 6: OHRID – ST. NAUM – OHRID
After breakfast at our hotel, we will depart for our Ohrid Lake & St. Naum tour with our private buses. Our first stop will be Lake Ohrid. Lake Ohrid is one of the biggest and most important natural treasures of North Macedonia, located in the southwestern part of the country. Known as one of the oldest and deepest lakes in the world, Lake Ohrid is famous for its crystal-clear waters, surrounding natural beauty, and unique aquatic ecosystem with over 200 endemic species. You will have the chance to take stunning photos during our break by the lake. Following our tour, we will arrive at St. Naum after a picturesque journey of about 45 minutes. Upon arrival, we will visit the St. Naum Monastery and Church, one of the most important saints in the region. The historical church inside the monastery, with its frescoes and other religious structures, reflects the art and architectural understanding of the Middle Ages. After our tour, we will transfer back to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 7: OHRID – BITOLA – KALKANDELEN – MATKA CANYON – SKOPJE
After breakfast at our hotel and checking out of the rooms, we head towards Bitola. During our city tour of Bitola, we will see the Historical Turkish Bazaar, the Bedesten, the Ishak Pasha Mosque, the New Mosque, which is one of the most prominent elements of the city skyline, and visit the Military High School and Atatürk Museum, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk graduated, which will bring emotional moments. Our second stop will be Kalkandelen.
In Kalkandelen, we will visit the Alaca Mosque, which is a ceramic masterpiece built in 1438 and restored to its present form in 1833, with its decorative tiles featuring bright floral patterns that set it apart from other Ottoman mosques. After our tour, we will proceed to our next destination, Matka Canyon. The canyon is famous for its prehistoric caves and many medieval monasteries. After the photo stop at Matka Canyon, we will proceed to Skopje. The city, located by the Vardar River, bears many historical mosques, bazaars, and hans due to its influence from the Ottoman Empire. Upon arrival, we will conduct a Skopje city tour, which will include Mustafa Pasha Mosque, Isa Bey Mosque, Kapan Han, the Turkish Bazaar, Skopje City Park, the famous Stone Bridge over the Vardar River, and Macedonia Square. Free time until the time specified by the guide at Macedonia Square. Then transfer to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 8: SKOPJE – ISTANBUL
After breakfast at our hotel and checking out of the rooms, we will depart for the airport at the time indicated by the guide. After handling baggage, ticket, and passport procedures, we will depart for Istanbul at 20:20 on Turkish Airlines flight TK 1006. Arrival in Istanbul at 23:05 local time and the end of our tour.
